Bismuth oxide has the following functions in ceramics. Glaze flux: Bismuth oxide is used as a flux in ceramic glaze, reducing the firing temperature and improving the gloss and transparency of the glaze.
Colorant: Used to make yellow and green glazes to improve the color brightness and stability of the glaze.
